PROJECT NAME: Confluence Chronicles: Navigating Pittsburgh’s Rivers

2023 Riverscapes: Entrants were asked to reimagine the riverscapes of Pittsburgh and create a series of four innovative sites for river travel and connectivity. This competition sought to celebrate the unique identity of the three rivers – the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio – while fostering sustainable and accessible pathways that enrich the urban experience and enhance the city’s relationship with its waterways. In preparation for the 125th Anniversary of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, contributors were asked to consider the past, present, and future of these sites along the river.
PROJECT NAME: The Fern Hollow Junction

2022 Frick Park Fern Hollow Bridge Future-Fit: In the wake of the Fern Hollow bridge’s collapse, entrants were asked to reimagine an ambitious future to build upon the new bridge as a community connector, an extension of the park spaces that surround the bridge, and a meaningful destination that adds to the environmental, social, and aesthetic value of Frick Park.

2020 Designing Your World For A New Reality: The challenge was in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and how one could use the place they have “sheltered” as the canvas, proposing a design solution that is responsive to their unique built environment.
