Astorino has added three more designs to its list of LEED® certified projects, bringing the firm’s number of LEED certified projects up to 21 (2 Platinum, 7 Gold, 10 Silver, and 2 Certified), totaling over 5 million sf and $1.65 billion in construction cost. Paramount Senior Living at Peters Township was awarded LEED Silver certification by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). The three-story personal care home includes 96 living units, central and private dining rooms, a commercial kitchen, administrative offices, activity rooms, a dementia care unit and nurses’ stations.The project attained all pre-requisites and 55 points under the LEED-NC v2009 Rating System. The Palm Beach State College Technical Education Center in Belle Glade, FL has achieved a LEED Platinum rating. This facility provides instructional training and certification for vocational programs, and is an asset to the surrounding community, offering new job skill sets and employment options. The project attained all pre-requisites and 52 points under the LEED-NC v2.2 Rating System, and is the second completed LEED Platinum project for Astorino. In addition, the VA CARES Consolidation Building at the University Drive Campus was awarded LEED Silver. The five-story facility, which is attached to the existing acute care hospital at the campus, was designed to provide veterans with ease of access to comprehensive inpatient and outpatient Behavioral Health services. The project attained all pre-requisites and 35 points under the LEED-NC v2.2 Rating System.

The Construction Legislative Council of Western Pennsylvania (CLC) announced the election of its officers for the 2012/2013 calendar year. The chairman is Joseph Kirk of the Constructors Association of Western PA; vice-chairman is Gregory Scott of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Pittsburgh Section; treasurer is Rich Barcaskey, Constructors Association of Western PA; and secretary is Jon O’Brien of the Master Builders’ Association of Western PA.

    The first thing you can start with is to turn the water off, while you’re brushing your teeth.
    In scouting for your new custom home builders,
    seek the most reputable ones first.
