Memorial Union, University of North Dakota
In 2016 the existing Memorial Union at the University of North Dakota was not meeting campus needs and had many building systems in need of update or replacement. Through the course of two feasibility studies working with student leaders and staff it was decided that the best way to create a welcoming, accessible. and transparent “living room of campus” to serve the campus community was to replace the student center. The design process incorporated input from open forums, student feedback, and steering committee meetings, into order to enliven the historic district of campus with a flexible and open student union that meets modern student organization and campus programming needs, as well as being able to adapt to future opportunities.
