Global Technology Company
Drawn to a former Heinz warehouse for its rich history and industrial character, our client engaged us to create a workplace that balanced old and new, offering flexibility while fostering a deeper connection to Pittsburgh’s legacy of technological innovation. Although the building’s compact column grid and low floor-to-floor heights posed challenges for a modern office environment, we were inspired by the distinctive industrial elements and used the interior framework to create flow and dynamism throughout, with an intuitive series of workspace ‘neighborhoods’ and gathering areas. Newly exposed timber provides a textured complement to integrated, locally sourced artwork and mid-century furniture found throughout each floor, visually bridging past and present. A new stair through the building’s upper level leads to a roof terrace with panoramic views of the nearby river, Sixteenth Street Bridge, and Heinz campus, further connecting occupants with their surroundings and place within the city.
