Passive House Western Pennsylvania (PHWPA) received a $25,000 grant from the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund (WPPSEF). The contribution will be used to secure space in Pittsburgh’s David L. Lawrence Convention Center for the North American Passive House Network Conference on October 17-22, 2018. Passive House applies a set of design principles used to attain a quantifiable and rigorous level of energy efficiency. As a result, Passive House buildings offer tremendous long-term benefits, in addition to energy efficiency; such as unmatched comfort, superb indoor air quality, extremely resilient buildings and the best path to Net Zero and Net Positive buildings. Passive House principles can be applied to all building types.
The annual conference brings together Passive House design experts, as well as product manufacturers whose products perform to the levels needed to achieve the significant degree of sustainability found in Passive House projects. Additionally, government, financial and other interested parties join in to learn of the latest Passive House advances. The goal of North American Passive House Network Conference is to promote and accelerate the adoption of Passive House building strategies in North America and to work with others who share our vision for a post-carbon all-renewable energy future.
The United Nations recently identified the Passive House design concept as the way to mitigate global warming caused by the built environment. WPPSEF’s commitment toward that goal is enabling the conference to use the Convention Center for an outstanding event, where crucial educational activities will occur.
