AE Works has kicked off 2014 with the addition of four new employees. Dennis Kennedy, CPA, joins the AE Works team as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer, working to formulate and execute strategies that build organizational value. With a career spanning a decade in diverse design and construction industry positions, Safiya Hodari, Assoc. AIA, NOMA also joins the AE Works as a member of the architectural team. While completing her Masters of Science in Architecture Engineering Construction Management at Carnegie Mellon University, Hodari supported the AE Works design team as an intern. Now in a full-time design role, she will continue to employ her broad skillset, supporting the team with design and construction documentation expertise. Hodari currently serves as the Regional Associate Director for the Pennsylvania American Institute of Architects (AIA PA) and also Chapter Secretary for the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architecture (NOMA), which she co-founded. Mary McCarty also joins AE Works’ Pittsburgh office as a Business Development Associate. Finally, Donna Ricketts joins the team as an Office Manager.

w-RSSC-duo-Jan2014Bruce Pollock, AIA, LEED AP and Eric Green, AIA, LEED AP BD + C have been named Principals at Ross Schonder Sterzinger Cupcheck P.C. Pollock graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1994 and has more than 17 years of experience at RSSC Architecture. He has been instrumental in helping RSSC Architecture to develop a better product for clients. His eagerness to expand his and the firm’s technical knowledge of construction materials and techniques has been critical in providing design solutions that have a high degree of constructability, quality and sustainability.Green graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1996 and has been an essential part of the firm since 2001, serving in the capacity of project architect, designer, and project manager. The promotion reflects his position and influence at RSSC Architecture. Green’s passion for providing clients with a positive and rewarding experience has helped to foster an attitude in the firm of constantly striving to improve their product.

w-Pillar-Jan2014Stantec architect Rob Pillar has received the Certified Educational Facility Planner (CEFP) designation, a mark of excellence developed to reflect superior knowledge, skills and abilities of educational facility planners. Based in Stantec’s Butler office, Pillar has spent his career designing K-12 educational facilities, including the award-winning Springfield Literacy Center in Springfield, Pennsylvania, and The Neighborhood Academy in Pittsburgh. He is now designing the French American School of New York campus in White Plains, on the site of a former country club.
