Brian Skripac, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BC+C, Director of Digital Practice at Astorino, delivered a presentation entitled “Social Media in Architecture” at the 2012 Annual TAP Conference – the meeting of the AIA Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community – that explored social media as a transformative method of communication all too often dismissed by architects. Skripac holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University, and currently serves as a Leadership Team member for the AIA TAP Knowledge Community at the national level.
Mascaro Construction Company, LP is the recipient of the 2012 American Business Ethics Award (ABEA) in the midsized company category. This national award from the Foundation for Financial Service Providers (FSP) recognizes companies that exemplify high standards of ethical behavior in their everyday business conduct.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation has presented its Preservation Honor Award to Strada LLC for the restoration of Market Square Place. The project is one of 22 award winners honored by the National Trust during its 2012 National Preservation Conference this month in Spokane, WA. Market Square Place demonstrated the value of reinvigorating existing buildings by breathing new life into the city with this project while showing that the greenest building is one that’s already been built.
WTW Architects is working on an upgrade of the Fitness Center at Penn State Harrisburg. Part of the need for the renovation was the campus’ recent NCAA Division II status, making a need for NCAA level men and women’s locker rooms along with upgraded exercise facilities and offices. Construction of the $3.8 million renovation/addition project should be completed by December 2012.
