mossArchitects is proud to welcome a new designer, Kellie Locke, Assoc. AIA, to its team. Kellie brings the Garfield-based firm to a staff of thirteen, with eight registered architects and four LEED certifications. Locke comes to Pittsburgh by way of Cincinnati, where she earned her Master of Architecture from University of Cincinnati. Originally from Indianapolis, her background also includes a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Ball State University. Her professional background includes work on retail, residential, mixed-use, and religious projects, as well as involvement on a variety of non-architectural design projects producing environmental and graphic design deliverables.Randy Hunter, AIA, Project Architect at Hayes Design Group Architects (HDG), recently obtained his professional architect’s license and is now licensed to practice in Pennsylvania. Randy is a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelors of Architecture and Environmental Design, a Masters of Architecture, and Masters of Business Administration.
Hayes Design Group Architects also welcomes Kayla Barko, Assoc. AIA as Associate Architect. In this position, Kayla assists the firm’s Project Architects with all aspects of projects from programming and design through construction administration. Kayla is a recent graduate with a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Kent State University.
Greg Smith, AIA has been promoted to senior associate at WTW Architects. Smith joined WTW 26 years ago. Experienced in all phases of project development, he has extensive involvement in the construction and renovation of a number of building types, including healthcare, laboratories, offices, retail, K-12 schools, fitness centers, student unions, and student housing.
Jeff Murray, FAIA, has joined CannonDesign as senior vice president and the Science & Technology leader of the Pittsburgh office. Jeff has been providing client-facing experiential and technical design leadership for complex research and laboratory environments throughout his three-decade career. Murray is also AIA Pittsburgh past-president.
DesignGroup names Lindsay Andrews Senior Business Development and Marketing Manager. Andrews has 18 years of marketing and business development experience in the design and construction field. Her responsibilities at DesignGroup will support the firm’s specialization in client-focused architecture. “Lindsay’s creativity and fresh approach is an ideal complement to our inspirational, high-performance processes,” said Jennifer Horvath, DesignGroup managing principal and business development leader.
On October 4th Mayor William Peduto joined Paul Wessel, director, Marketing Development at the U.S. Green Building Council, and Pittsburgh Stadium Authority Board Chairman Stanley Lederman to unveil a plaque recognizing the Gold 1 Parking Garage as the world’s first Parksmart Gold Project. Bordered by Tony Dorset Drive, Art Rooney Avenue, Reedsdale and West General Robinson Streets near Heinz Field, the 1,00 car, six-level parking garage was completed a little over a year ago by WTW Architects. The Gold 1 Parking Garage was also the recent recipient of a Sustainability + Resilience Certificate of Merit at Design Pittsburgh 2018.
Allen & Shariff Engineering, LLC is pleased to announce that Kurt Scheer, P.E. has joined the Pittsburgh Office, as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
The winners of the Pittsburgh Business Times 2018 Best Places to Work have been announced and include two AIA Pittsburgh member firms. Companies were judged based on an online employee survey earlier this year and chosen in four categories based on the number of employees working in western Pennsylvania. Desmone Architects was listed at number 16 with 33 employees and IKM Incorporated was listed at number 40 with 61 employees.
