In an increasingly connected and technology-driven world, architects need more than a pencil and drafting table to succeed. Innovative tools are being created to help increase public awareness of the value of architecture as well as provide architects with the resources to not only survive in today’s economy, but ideally excel. With that in mind, last month in Chicago the AIA introduced two companies that have entered into strategic partnerships with the organization. Each partnership offers an unique opportunity for AIA members to deepen their knowledge and reach, utilizing technology initiatives to grow their businesses.
Houzz
The AIA has joined with Houzz, the world’s leading online platform for residential remodeling and design, to develop innovative technology initiatives to engage architects, deepen members’ use of the Houzz platform, and increase public awareness and appreciation of how good design can enhance our lives.
This strategic partnership will support the AIA’s consumer outreach mission by providing more tools to assist homeowners with hiring and working with an architect. AIA members also benefit from technology, consumer insights and direct interaction with Houzz’s global community of more than 20 million monthly unique users who are actively building and remodeling. The AIA and Houzz will work closely on a number of joint efforts from education to technology and marketing on both a national and local level.
Reed Construction Data
An inaugural strategic partner, Reed Construction Data understands that to be competitive within the recovering economy, architectural firms must begin to shift focus from survival to growth and seek new technologies to increase visibility and expand business potential.
One such tool, available free of charge, is Reed Construction Data’s Insight for Architects. RCD developed Insight for Architects to support architects and promote business development opportunities. The concept is based upon a partnership of shared information. Members gain access to a powerful, up-to-date database with thousands of project leads and, in exchange, share their own project information with the architectural community. Updated constantly, it provides a cross-section of leads from all regions of the country and provides insight to development within the design community. Significantly, 20% of projects in the database do not have an architect listed yet.
Both of these partnerships are just another way that the AIA is working to strengthen the architectural community and provide members with the tools to build their business. Be sure to check out these new opportunities!
