It’s the dog days of summer, and whether you find yourself shaking the sand out of your flip flops or daydreaming while staring out at that clear blue sky, it’s time to find your focus and start thinking about Design Awards. Entries, for both local and national design competitions, are due towards the end of August. And don’t forget about the Young Architects Studio Competition, A Sign of the Times, and photo exhibition, Places That Inspire.
August 15 – AIA Convention 2016 Call for Educational Proposals: Are you an articulate subject matter expert with a great concept for an education session on emerging trends, practice strategies and innovations, or other topics that inspire and engage? Submit your proposal for peer review and a chance to present at AIA Convention 2016 in Philadelphia.
August 20 – YAF Steering Committee Meeting
August 21 – Design Pittsburgh and YASC Submission Request Forms Due: Make sure you’ve turned in your submission request forms for the Design Awards Competition and the Young Architects Studio Competition, due by 5 pm!
August 21 – AIA Institute Honor Awards for Architecture submissions deadline.
August 28 – Design Awards and YASC Entries Due: Project submissions must be received by AIA Pittsburgh via DropBox by 5 pm to be eligible for judging.
August 31 – AIA PA Political Action Committee Pin Design Contest: AIA Pennsylvania’s primary mission is legislative advocacy. A vital component of legislative advocacy is a robust and healthy Political Action Committee (PAC). For years, Pennsylvania Architects PAC donors have proudly worn the PAC pin.
