mossArchitects announces the promotion of three seasoned architects to Associate Principal. Darren Lloyd, Katie LaForest, and Shannon Ashmore bring extensive design and leadership experience to their new roles.

WTW Architect’s long-time senior principal Paul Knell, FAIA has received the Association of College Unions International Emeritus Award for 2019.

Sierra Smith is the newest member of the professional staff at WTW Architects.  A Pittsburgh native who resides in the city’s Oakland area, Smith graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Architectural Studies. This year, Smith plans to become a LEED Accredited Professional and begin testing for the Architectural Registration Exam.

Moshier Studio is pleased to announce that Emel Guner-Ekin, Assoc. AIA has joined the firm as an architectural intern.

Strada is delighted to welcome Jesse H. Pointon to the firm as a new Associate. For the past twenty-one years, Jesse has specialized in delivering finely detailed projects that celebrate people, placemaking, and serve to elevate communities.


Wade Weissmann Architecture celebrates one year in their East Liberty office. WWA is a boutique architecture firm specializing in highly customized residential architecture, with projects spanning the US and abroad. With established offices located in Milwaukee, Chicago, Nashville, and Santa Barbara, the company is delighted to have an office able to service the Pittsburgh region and east coast.

AE Works, a building design and consulting firm headquartered in Pittsburgh, is marking 12 years in business this year.  Twelve years later, continued growth, creating jobs and expanding services remain the focus of AE Works.

Allen & Shariff Engineering, LLC is pleased to announce that Eric Cunningham has joined the Pittsburgh Office, as an Electrical Designer.

WTW Architects has received the 2019 ACUI Facility Design Award for its design of the renovation of Penn State University’s Findlay Commons on the State College Campus.

Barton Associates, Inc., a full-service MEP consulting engineering firm located in York, State College, and Pittsburg, is pleased to announce that Carl E. Thieret has joined the firm as a Project Manager/Senior Mechanical Engineer.

Jennifer Beck, AIA, Project Architect at Hayes Design Group Architects, was recently chosen as a recipient of the 2019 Sho-Ping Chin Women’s Leadership Summit Grant.  As one of this year’s grant recipients, Jennifer will be able to attend the 2019 AIA Women’s Leadership Summit (WLS), the largest leadership event in the U.S. for women in architecture.  The summit is designed to help women refine leadership skills and accelerate career growth, and takes place from September 12-14 in Minneapolis, MN.

Margittai Architects, located on the Southside, celebrates 18 years in business this year.

Parva Markiw, Assoc. AIA is the newest addition to the professional staff at WTW Architects.  The Iranian native earned a Masters in Architecture from Kent State University.  She is currently assisting the WTW team designing a new residence hall at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, New York.
