The Emerging Professionals Committee has announced the 2017 class of Paula Maynes ARE (Architect Registration Examination) Grant recipients. Since 2015, the grant has recognized outstanding architectural graduates pursuing licensure and their contributions to the architecture profession and their communities at large.
Two of the grant recipients were from Paula’s hometown of Pittsburgh. Each grant recipient will receive a $210 award, the cost of each division of the six-part ARE 5.0 exam and a full Brightwood Architecture Education ARE Study Guide Library.

Hayes Design Group Architects (HDG) welcomes Sheena Hoover as Marketing Manager. In this position, Hoover is responsible for leading and preparing all marketing and public relations activities to support the HDG brand and business development activities. Hoover has over 10 years of experience in marketing and business development in the A/E/C industry. She is a graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania and is President-Elect of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Pittsburgh Chapter.
LGA Partners, LP is excited to announce that Mary Rose Hopkins has been promoted to the role of Director of Business Development within the firm. Mary Rose Hopkins has worked in the field for thirty-seven years, focusing much of her efforts in the corporate, commercial, and educational markets. The promotion reflects her passion for creating meaningful relationships as well as her impressive architectural work.
Diane Bookwalter from the Pittsburgh office of Allen & Shariff Engineering has been promoted to assistant vice president. She is also the Pittsburgh office Electrical Department head. Bookwalter earned a bachelor of science and master’s degree in architectural engineering from Penn State University.

- 2017 Placemaking Award, Catalytic Place, also for UATC Research Center in Pittsburgh, presented by Urban Land Institute (ULI) Pittsburgh
- Project Runway “On Trend” Award, Strada Team “Gentlemen Prefer Couture,” presented by International Interior Design Association (IIDA) of PA/NJ/DE
