50 Years, Expanded Leadership, Next Chapter for PWWG

This year marks a transformative moment in Perfido Weiskopf Wagstaff + Goettel firm’s history. As they celebrate 50 years of award-winning architecture, they are excited to formally introduce thei new name—PWWG Architects—and welcome two new Principals to the leadership team.
In 1975, Leonard Perfido established his solo practice, L.P. Perfido Associates, in Pittsburgh, bringing a vision rooted in quality design, thoughtful detail, and a deep commitment to community. The firm evolved over the decades—becoming Perfido Weiskopf Architects in 1986 when Alan Weiskopf joined, and later Perfido Weiskopf Wagstaff + Goettel in 2004, reflecting the addition of Kevin Wagstaff and Sheldon Goettel. In 2025, the firm officially embraced the name PWWG Architects, a contemporary identity that honors its legacy and looks to the future.
From their early role in the nine-year revitalization of Pittsburgh’s Penn-Liberty Historic District to nationally recognized projects like the Cincinnati Music Hall renovation and the 21c Museum Hotel St. Louis, the firm has consistently delivered work that blends history, innovation, and community impact. Their portfolio spans historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and contemporary design for cultural institutions, higher education, and multifamily housing across the country.
As they mark this milestone year, they are also celebrating the promotion of Andreas Lange, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, and Jennifer Szczesniak, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, to Principals. Andreas has been instrumental in building their Cincinnati presence since 2016, leading landmark projects and strengthening regional partnerships. Jennifer, with PWWG since 2015, has championed design innovation, sustainability, and mentorship across diverse market sectors.
Together with Principals Lisa Carver, AIA, Brent Houck, AIA, and Anthony Pitassi, AIA. their leadership ensures that while the name may be shorter, the mission remains unchanged: to create architecture that makes a lasting difference in the communities we serve.
With studios in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, and a growing national portfolio, PWWG Architects enters its next 50 years with gratitude for our clients, partners, and team—and with excitement for the future ahead.

The project represents a complete reorganization of the existing building, transforming it into a modern learning environment designed around collaboration, flexibility, and innovation.
Key features include an instructional “Think Tank” to encourage creativity and teamwork, and a building-wide emphasis on natural light. Classrooms and common areas are now bright and open, while in spaces where daylight access was limited, interior LED “windows” were installed to simulate natural light. These advanced systems adjust color and intensity throughout the day, mirroring local conditions to create a healthy, immersive environment.
New Wildlife Center by Moshier Studio Rising on Ford Island Near Linesville

A major wildlife education hub is making a return to Crawford County, as the Pennsylvania Game Commission has officially broken ground on a new Pymatuning Wildlife Learning Center along Hartstown Road near Linesville.
The facility, set to open in spring 2027, will occupy the same location on Ford Island as its predecessor, which closed in 2014. However, the new version will be markedly larger and updated, with over 9,000 square feet of space — more than four times the size of the original center. According to the Game Commission, the exhibit area alone will be about 400 percent larger.
Visitors can expect interactive and informative exhibits covering wildlife, hunting, forestry, and related topics. A life-sized eagle nest will serve as the centerpiece. The new facility will also feature an auditorium and large wildlife viewing windows. Outside, the project will include an interpretive walking trail, a pollinator garden, a viewing platform, and other educational amenities. Officials said these features will allow visitors to learn about Pennsylvania’s birds and mammals, wildlife management strategies, and the role of hunting and trapping in conservation.
