Love in is the air. Love, that is, for interesting lectures, mentorship opportunities, and tours of iconic buildings.
This month, architecture, art, and fashion intersect at the CMOA in a new exhibit featuring fashion designer Iris van Herpen. Later in the month 25 lucky members will get to go on the ultimate “date,” a tour of The Tower at PNC Plaza as part of Target 2030: Meeting Goals and Verifying 2030 Strategies.
Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion opens February 4 at Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA). Fashion designer Iris van Herpen marries precision and meticulous handcraft, inventive technological solutions, and a striking, futuristic aesthetic. Organized by the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, and Groninger Museum, The Netherlands, this exhibit gathers seven years of van Herpen’s original haute couture for this exhibition: her first North American tour.
Couture Architecture with Philip Beesley will also take place on February 4th at 1:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m. at the CMOA Theater. Philip Beesley is a practicing visual artist, architect, and Professor in Architecture at the University of Waterloo and Professor of Digital Design and Architecture & Urbanism at the European Graduate School. Beesley’s work is widely cited in contemporary art and architecture, focused in the rapidly expanding technology and culture of responsive and interactive systems.
