Meet the 2024 Young Architects Studio Competition Jury
Matthew Jacobs
Matthew Jacob is a life-long Pittsburgher who grew up in Point Breeze. Matthew works as the Asset Management Program Manager for the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority and previously worked in a similar role at the City of Pittsburgh for about 10 years. Matthew has a bachelor’s degree in History from Temple University and a Master’s in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Matthew is one of the authors of the recently released book City Steps of Pittsburgh: A History and Guide and is on social media with the Instagram account @PGHSteps.
Bea Spolidoro
Bea Spolidoro (RA, WELL AP), an Italian architect in Pittsburgh, PA, pursued new design frontiers after earning her Master’s in Architecture at Politecnico of Milano. In 2019 she became a Principal and CEO of Fisher ARCHitecture, joining forces with her husband Eric Fisher. She has been actively involved in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) at local, State, and National levels, serving as the 2022 President of AIA Pittsburgh.
Laura Zurowski
Laura Zurowski has published Mis.Steps: Our Missed Connections with Pittsburgh’s City Steps, a public space documentation project of Pittsburgh’s public stairways, parks, and playgrounds, since 2017. She is a graduate of Emerson College and Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
