The Design Pittsburgh People's Choice Award is your opportunity to weigh in on some of the recently designed (or redesigned) places and spaces in our community. Architecture is a part of our daily environment and we want to hear from you what good design means to you.
As you look through the projects submitted, ask yourself: Does the project inspire you? Would you enjoy spending time in that space? How does the project enhance or serve our community?
In an effort to enact transformative change, a 19,500 sf new addition to Science Hall on the Youngwood, PA campus was designed. The newly renovated Science Innovation Center is faculty and student focused, specifically providing more efficient and dynamic layouts for the biological life sciences. The spaces are activated through a dynamic section that harvests daylight and differentiates space. The design supports state-of-the-art equipment and technology for teaching the life sciences, as well as provides highly engaging student/ teacher collaboration space. The addition provides a face to Science Hall, elevating the learning environment to a 21st century home for the sciences.
