Rockwell Park
Rockwell Park is an industrial campus of abandoned buildings from the early 20th Century.
The central phase is focused on 3 buildings. The three buildings were factories that have been renovated with new windows and new roofs. The main building is 5 story Factory that has added a Sawtooth addition. The Building’s Common Areas were renovated to include a lobby, elevators, stairwells, and restrooms. Terraces on the North and South Side allow the Sawtooth to set back from the existing facade. Green Roof Trays retain stormwater and add Landscaping to the exterior terraces. An steel bridge was exposed and sheathed in glass and metal to create a glowing transparent connection from the main building. A third smaller building was completely reclad in black brick.
Connecting all 3 buildings is a new exterior plaza with cast-in-place concrete planters and LED railings. Color LED lighting is used through and on the main building to create a dramatic environment. Sustainable features include Rain Gardens, Bicycle Parking Center, Improved Daylighting and Roofs prepared for future Solar Panels.
