AIA Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Architecture Foundation are now accepting proposals for Pittsburgh Architecture Week 2026, returning October 4-10.
Are you interested in hosting or contributing an event to the 2026 lineup? Pittsburgh Architecture Week partners with organizations that share a commitment to engaging the public in meaningful conversations about architecture and the built environment.
We are looking for public-facing events and activities that engage people in conversations about architecture, design, placemaking, preservation, sustainability, equity, innovation, and the future of Pittsburgh.
You do not need to be an architect to participate. We welcome ideas from community organizations, artists, designers, educators, students, preservationists, developers, neighborhood groups, and anyone passionate about the places where we live, work, and gather.
Past events have included:
– Walking tours of neighborhoods and historic districts
– Building and behind-the-scenes tours
– Panel discussions and lectures
– Youth workshops and educational activities
– Storytelling events like PechaKucha Night
– Exhibitions and gallery programs
– Community volunteer and placemaking projects
– Open architecture studio nights
– Design mixers and networking events
Whether you’re interested in leading a tour, hosting a discussion, organizing an exhibit, creating a hands-on workshop, or trying something entirely new, we’d love to hear from you!

What is Pittsburgh Architecture Week?
Launched in 2022, Pittsburgh Architecture Week is an annual, week-long celebration of architecture, design, and the built environment across our region. Hosted by AIA Pittsburgh and our sister organization, the Pittsburgh Architecture Foundation, the initiative brings together architects, designers, community leaders, students, and the public through tours, panels, lectures, exhibitions, and special events that highlight how architecture shapes our daily lives.
Architecture is arguably the most public of the arts — we move through it every day. Yet we rarely pause to consider how thoughtfully designed spaces support well-being, strengthen neighborhoods, foster innovation, and reflect who we are as a city. Pittsburgh Architecture Week creates space for that conversation. It showcases the region’s extraordinary architectural legacy — from historic landmarks to forward-thinking sustainable projects — while exploring how design can advance equity, resilience, and a distinct sense of place.
Open to all, Architecture Week invites the public to see, question, and engage with the spaces around them. It also highlights architecture as a creative and impactful career path for the next generation, strengthening the pipeline of future designers and decision-makers.
