A large portion of the historic Cathedral of Learning’s historic 3rd floor was not living up to its potential. By recapturing little-used circulation space, our team was able to create an executive-level conference center and two modern office suites for small self-contained departments. The renovation played off of the existing Gothic Architecture, favoring feature elements such as a tracery rosette window as focal points in the design, while prefabricated wall systems lightly touch the existing limestone, allowing flexibility while minimizing the impact on the historic floorplate.
