The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture has honored John Folan, AIA of CMU with two awards for Collaborative Practice for the Cultural Construction Studio and the NavADAPT LAB Studio. The NavADAPT LAB Studio, a 2016 AIA Pennsylvania Social Impact Award recipient, and a 2016 AIA Pittsburgh Design Award recipient explored the design of adaptive environments for underserved populations with sensory, intellectual, and/or limited physical disabilities in the Allegheny County region of Pennsylvania. Strada, an industry leader in cross-disciplinary design, is excited to announce the elevation of Abby Mountain to Senior Associate. “Abby has been instrumental to Strada’s growth and success since 2002, and we are thrilled to advance her to this important position,” said Al Cuteri, AIA.

MacLachlan, Cornelius & Filoni (MCF) has publicly announced Timothy L. Powers, AIA as the new President of the firm. The announcement is a part of MCF’s strategic leadership transition plan. Tim will lead MCF’s Health & Wellness Practice with his 30+ years of healthcare architecture experience.
Kenneth K. Lee, AIA has announced his scheduled retirement after 45 successful years with MCF. Ken will remain at the firm as CEO through the end of 2018, to ensure a seamless transition for the firm and for his projects: “My life has been enriched by being a member of a highly regarded design firm with a 129 years legacy and having the opportunity to serve clients whom I consider to be beloved friends.”
Alan Hohlfelder, AIA will transition to MCF’s Vice President, after 23 years as Corporate Treasurer. Alan brings decades of project and firm management experience to the VP role, and will be instrumental in continuing the firm’s growth in the Higher Education and Performing Arts markets. Alan also leads the firm’s efforts in sustainable design.
Bill Szymczak, with over 34 years service at MCF, will continue as a Principal and Corporate Secretary. Bill will continue to manage some of MCF’s most significant higher education and healthcare projects, and guide the integration of design/documentation technology into the firm’s practice.
John M. Evans, AIA was named MCF’s newest Principal and Corporate Treasurer. John will assist in the day-to-day management of the practice and several key projects, while also leading MCF’s work in Historic Preservation and Adaptive Use.
