Why We Tour:
In the interests of both networking and professional development, the YAF frequently organizes hard-hat tours of local projects, currently under construction. These tours are usually led by the architect and general contractor, and offer unique insights into the construction process for each project.
Many young architects feel they are not getting enough exposure to actual field conditions on a project site — if you are one of them, join us for our next tour!
Want to Schedule a Building Tour?
YAF works with architecture, landscape, urban design, and construction management firms across the city to organize Building (“Hardhat”) Tours throughout the year.
Architects, construction managers, and contractors typically lead a 15-25 person group through a site for 1 hr on a weekday evening.
YAF has visited sites 50% through construction, to nearly complete, to fully complete and open to the public. These field visits are a fantastic opportunity to use construction sites as a living classroom for young professionals, to illustrate design challenges and highlight new building technologies.
Plus, participants can count visits towards AXP hours, and, when coordinated, AIA CES LU + HSW credit. We are already beginning to plan out YAF Building Tours through the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2020.
If your firm is interested in sharing a project with the YAF community, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
