Shaping Equitable Development: Design as Activism

April 6 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

DESCRIPTION

Pittsburgh will see billions of dollars worth of development over the next five years, and potentially billions more if the Amazon HQ2 bid is successful. In anticipation of this growth, how can we ensure that Pittsburgh remains affordable and maintains its personality? What strategies can we employ so that residents will benefit equitably from economic development?

As part of Inclusive Innovation Week 2018, Module is partnering with the City, Avenu, Uptown Partners, and the Urban Redevelopment Authority to engage the community in a discussion around sustainable growth and housing development. The event will feature tours of the Module demo unit, followed by a panel discussion at the Paramount Film Exchange with four experts in community development, design, and activism.

Schedule:

6pm – 7pm – Refreshments & Tours of Module Demo Unit

7pm – 8pm – Panel Discussion around the corner at the Paramount Film Exchange (1727 Blvd of the Allies, Pittsburgh, PA 15219)

Brian Gaudio, CEO of Module, will moderate a 40-minute discussion with the panelists, which will be followed by ten minutes of Q&A.

Panelists:

• Elizabeth Englebretson, Gulf Coast Community Design Studio

• Ed Nusser, Lawrenceville Corporation

• Raqueeb Bey, Grow Pittsburgh & Black Urban Gardeners
